Parliament passed the Constitution (123rd Amendment) Bill, 2018

Parliament has passed the Constitution 123rd Amendment Bill, 2018 seeking constitutional status to the National Commission for Backward Classes with the Rajya Sabha. The Rajya Sabha adopted the amendment passed by the Lok Sabha. The bill was passed in the Upper House with an absolute majority and not less than 2/3rd of the majority of the member present in the House.

Lok Sabha passed the SC/ST PoA Amendment Bill, 2018

The Lok Sabha passed the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Amendment Bill, 2018, which seeks to overturn a Supreme Court order that struck down the provision for immediate arrest.
